Why we care so much about bravery
As we look back over the last year, it's incredible to see how far the BLC team and our network of Boss Ladies have come. We partnered with an amazing sponsor for our podcast, which is reaching more listeners than ever. Our Braver By the Day bullet journal went from a dream I had on my "to do" list to a published reality that women are using to make bravery a daily habit.
Hollie and I have celebrated our anniversary of working together and we still can't find enough time to do all the things we have swirling in our minds. When we first started recording together, I would find myself getting nervous before our recording sessions. Now, I get excited anytime a Facebook Live or interview date is added to the calendar. I can hardly wait for us to get together and enjoy raw, honest, personal conversations!
None of this would have happened if Hollie hadn't taken a risk and put the podcast idea on my radar. We've done some wonderful work together and I know even bigger things are left to come. Imagine how many lives we would have missed having the opportunity to touch if she hadn't put herself out there and shared her idea?
What we're doing today wasn't dictated by a strategic plan or market study. Don't get me wrong, those are important tools, but that's not what brought our story to this point. It was risk. It was the chance to do something even though we may not be experts or the most qualified people in the world. Instead of waiting for someone to give us permission, we got to work.
In an age where everyone can share their ideas with the masses and express their opinions with the click of a button, we've found ourselves in a place where action has become rare. If you have an idea, don't just think about it or talk about- make it happen! You don't have to be the best, you just have to get started before everyone else who is watching from the sidelines. What if Steve Jobs or Jeff Bezos let their ideas stay as just that? Your dream has the power to change the world, and what a waste it would be if you let fear talk you out of taking action.
Sure there's risk involved, but it's nothing you can't handle. All fear comes down to the root issue of doubting our ability to handle consequences. What if someone rejects your idea? What if it doesn't turn a profit right away? What if things don't go as planned? That's why we provide tools and encouragement so that you have the support system in place to know you can come through those challenges and not let fear hold you back.
What big ideas have you been putting off because you're talking yourself out of making them happen? We'd love to hear them in the comments or share them with us privately by messaging our Facebook page. We'd be happy to cheer you on and offer our support along your journey!
Now let's get ready to make 2019 a year where we refuse to be held back by fear!
